Machinist's Instructors of North Carolina
Article I
Purpose and Membership
- Purpose
- The Association of Machinists Instructors was created and organized
by the machinists instructors of the community college system of the
State of North Carolina n order to facilitate an effective channel of
communication among instructors of the state as well as personnel in
industry.
- The Association is organized for the following specific purposes,
but does exclude other purposes which may be within the scope of the
Association.
- To provide a forum for the timely discussion of matters that
affect the training of qualified machinists and/or tool makers.
- To promote additional training of instructors and their
up-grading.
- To provide channels of communication between instructors
concerning any matter related to their profession, and to coordinate
the thinking of member instructors concerning curriculum
improvement.
- To encourage the involvement and participation of the
instructors in the educational development and progress of the
machinist and/or tell and die program.
- This organization is not organized for profit.
- Membership
- The Association membership shall consist of all, full-time,
community colleges machinist and tool and die instructors.
- Other state officials, state high school machinists instructors, or
interested parties may become a non-voting member through a majority
vote of the Association.
Article II
Officers and Their Duties
- Election and Term of Office
- Elected officers shall be the Chairman and the Secretary-Treasurer.
The Chairman may appoint Eastern and Western representatives as needed.
- The Chairman and the Secretary-Treasurer shall be elected by the
voting members.
- The Chairman and Secretary-Treasurer shall be elected for a period
of two years and may be eligible for re-election by voting members.
- The election of the Chairman, Secretary-Treasurer shall take place
on the first meeting of every other school year.
- The nominee receiving the majority of all votes cast shall be named
the Chairman. If three or more candidates are nominated for chairman,
and one does not receive a majority of all votes cast, the Association
members shall proceed to a new election, the nominees being the two
candidates receiving the greatest number of votes in the preceding
election.
- The same procedures shall be used to elect other officers of the
Association.
- The Chairman of the Association
- The Chairman shall call and preside at all meetings of the
Association.
- The Chairman shall notify members of the Association in advance as
to the time, place and purpose of meetings.
- The Chairman shall review the minutes of all Association meetings
and have the secretary to provide copies to all members of the
Association.
- The Chairman shall submit recommendations, resolutions, and/or
topics for discussion to the Association on behalf of the Association.
- The Chairman shall serve as a means of communication between the
Association and community college/technical institute system officials
or coordinators and other state officials.
- The Secretary of the Association
- The Secretary-Treasurer shall keep an accurate record of the
proceedings of the Association.
- The Secretary-Treasurer shall issue, upon direction by the Chairman,
minutes of all meetings to the members of the Council.
- The Secretary-Treasurer shall collect all dues, keep an accurate
record of all expenditures of the Association, and make such reports at
regular meetings or when notified by the Association.
- The Secretary-Treasurer shall maintain a current roll for all
members.
Article III
Responsibilities of Members
- The members of the Association shall attend meetings regularly when
humanly possible.
- The members of the Association shall support the purpose of the
Association by actively participating in meetings.
- Each member in good standing of the Association shall be entitled to
one vote in the affairs of the Association. A good standing member shall
be defined as a paid-up member.
- The secretary shall mail membership cards and/or certificates to the
fees paying members within three weeks from the receipt of the fees.
Article IV
Meetings
- Regular Meetings
The regular meetings of the Association shall be held in the summer, in
the fall and in the spring, unless the Chairman shall fix another time.
- Special Meetings
The time, place, and purpose(s) of special meetings may be fixed by the
Chairman.
- Parliamentary Rules
ROBERTS RULES OF ORDER shall be followed in conducting the meetings
of the Association
Article V
Amendment
- The Association may amend the by-laws by an affirmative vote of a
majority of the members present.
- A proposed amendment shall be presented to the association
membership in writing prior to its being voted upon at a regular
meeting.
Article VI
Fees
- Registration fees are to be $20.00 per meeting.
- Fees collected shall be used for the following:
- Cards and/or certificates for members.
- Pins for members.
- To pay expenses of guest speakers.
- Operating cost of the Association.
- Checks payable from fees can only be written for those things agreed
upon by the Association members as listed above or approved by a
majority vote of members at a regularly scheduled meeting.
- Any expenditure in excess of $50.00 must be approved by the
Association.
