Machinist's Instructors of North Carolina

Article I

 

Purpose and Membership

  1. Purpose
    1. The Association of Machinists Instructors was created and organized by the machinists instructors of the community college system of the State of North Carolina n order to facilitate an effective channel of communication among instructors of the state as well as personnel in industry.
    2. The Association is organized for the following specific purposes, but does exclude other purposes which may be within the scope of the Association.
      1. To provide a forum for the timely discussion of matters that affect the training of qualified machinists and/or tool makers.
      2. To promote additional training of instructors and their up-grading.
      3. To provide channels of communication between instructors concerning any matter related to their profession, and to coordinate the thinking of member instructors concerning curriculum improvement.
      4. To encourage the involvement and participation of the instructors in the educational development and progress of the machinist and/or tell and die program.
      5. This organization is not organized for profit.
  1. Membership
    1. The Association membership shall consist of all, full-time, community colleges machinist and tool and die instructors.
    2. Other state officials, state high school machinists instructors, or interested parties may become a non-voting member through a majority vote of the Association.

 

Article II

Officers and Their Duties

     

  1. Election and Term of Office

     

    1. Elected officers shall be the Chairman and the Secretary-Treasurer. The Chairman may appoint Eastern and Western representatives as needed.
    2. The Chairman and the Secretary-Treasurer shall be elected by the voting members.
    3. The Chairman and Secretary-Treasurer shall be elected for a period of two years and may be eligible for re-election by voting members.
    4. The election of the Chairman, Secretary-Treasurer shall take place on the first meeting of every other school year.
    5. The nominee receiving the majority of all votes cast shall be named the Chairman. If three or more candidates are nominated for chairman, and one does not receive a majority of all votes cast, the Association members shall proceed to a new election, the nominees being the two candidates receiving the greatest number of votes in the preceding election.
    6. The same procedures shall be used to elect other officers of the Association.
  1. The Chairman of the Association
    1. The Chairman shall call and preside at all meetings of the Association.
    2. The Chairman shall notify members of the Association in advance as to the time, place and purpose of meetings.
    3. The Chairman shall review the minutes of all Association meetings and have the secretary to provide copies to all members of the Association.
    4. The Chairman shall submit recommendations, resolutions, and/or topics for discussion to the Association on behalf of the Association.
    5. The Chairman shall serve as a means of communication between the Association and community college/technical institute system officials or coordinators and other state officials.
  1. The Secretary of the Association
    1. The Secretary-Treasurer shall keep an accurate record of the proceedings of the Association.
    2. The Secretary-Treasurer shall issue, upon direction by the Chairman, minutes of all meetings to the members of the Council.
    3. The Secretary-Treasurer shall collect all dues, keep an accurate record of all expenditures of the Association, and make such reports at regular meetings or when notified by the Association.
    4. The Secretary-Treasurer shall maintain a current roll for all members.

 

Article III

Responsibilities of Members

    1. The members of the Association shall attend meetings regularly when humanly possible.
    2. The members of the Association shall support the purpose of the Association by actively participating in meetings.
    3. Each member in good standing of the Association shall be entitled to one vote in the affairs of the Association. A good standing member shall be defined as a paid-up member.
    4. The secretary shall mail membership cards and/or certificates to the fees paying members within three weeks from the receipt of the fees.

 

Article IV

Meetings

     

  1. Regular Meetings

     

    The regular meetings of the Association shall be held in the summer, in the fall and in the spring, unless the Chairman shall fix another time.

  2. Special Meetings

    The time, place, and purpose(s) of special meetings may be fixed by the Chairman.

  3. Parliamentary Rules

ROBERTS RULES OF ORDER shall be followed in conducting the meetings of the Association

 

Article V

Amendment

    1. The Association may amend the by-laws by an affirmative vote of a majority of the members present.
    2. A proposed amendment shall be presented to the association membership in writing prior to its being voted upon at a regular meeting.

 

Article VI

Fees

    1. Registration fees are to be $20.00 per meeting.
    2. Fees collected shall be used for the following:
    1. Cards and/or certificates for members.
    2. Pins for members.
    3. To pay expenses of guest speakers.
    4. Operating cost of the Association.
    1. Checks payable from fees can only be written for those things agreed upon by the Association members as listed above or approved by a majority vote of members at a regularly scheduled meeting.
    2. Any expenditure in excess of $50.00 must be approved by the Association.
